More than 3,400 outages following severe storms

More than 3,400 power outages in the tri-county area have been reported to SCE&G following severe thunderstorms that swept through the area.

Parts of Charleston, Mount Pleasant and other nearby cities were under a severe thunderstorm warning through through 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Other impacted areas included North Charleston, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Summerville and Goose Creek.

As of 7:45 p.m., the SCE&G map showed 2,237 outages in Charleston County, 957 in Dorchester County, and 246 in Berkeley County.

The National Weather Service reported that damage may have occurred to the roofs and siding of houses, as well as tree damage to in nearby areas.
