A 50-year-old Charleston man told police he was shot at on the Mark Clark Expressway while driving to work early Monday.
He was driving eastbound about 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 526 when he noticed two cars blocking traffic behind him, according to a North Charleston Police Department incident report.
One car, a silver-colored Mercedes, exited at the Leeds Avenue exit but got back on I-526 at the same location and behind the driver, the report states. The second, a silver or dark grey sedan driven by a black male about 25 years old, pulled up beside him.
The driver rolled down his passenger side window down and asked the driver if everything was OK. The man fired two shots into the passenger side of his vehicle, the report said.
The man pulled into the emergency lane. The Mercedes continued east and the dark grey car exited I-526 onto East Montague Avenue.
North Charleston officers responded and found the car had been struck twice in the front passenger-side pillar.
