Summerville police were called to the Nexton construction site at Sheep Island Drive and Holiday Drive shortly before noon June 26. The foreman with Banks Construction told an officer somebody had driven a green John Deere tractor into a ditch and then significantly damaged it while trying to pull it out with a yellow Cat bulldozer, according an incident report. Then somebody drove around the site damaging equipment until the bulldozer ended up stuck in a mud hole, according to police.

The overall damage was estimated at more than $110,000.

Jones was arrested after police followed footprints from where the bulldozers were taken to his white 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer parked nearby. Jones told officers the next morning that he had left the car there because the battery went dead, according to the affidavit.

Jones was booked into the Berkeley County jail and released on bail.
