Forum on black men shot by police set for Sunday in North Charleston

The Rev. Nelson Rivers III

A community forum called “How To Get Black Men Off the Endangered Species List” is set for 6 p.m. Sunday at Charity Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston.

“The recent police killings of Mr. Alton Sterling and Philando Castile have caused deep pain and anger in our community,” the church’s pastor, the Rev. Nelson Rivers III, said in the announcement. “Anger is not enough. We must take action to end the killings of Black Men by law enforcement in America. Black Men seem to be an endangered species in our country. As a community we must stand together to say, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!”

The church is at 1544 E. Montague Ave.
