A fire destroyed the nature center at Huntington Beach State Park early Wednesday.
Several animals inside the three-story building perished, according to the Georgetown Times and other media outlets.
Turtles, alligators, snakes and fish were in the building.
The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. A lightning strike was the suspected cause.
Huntington Beach is in Murrells Inlet, which is on the coast between Georgetown and Myrtle Beach.
