Dorchester County day-care owner arrested on tax-fraud charges

A Dorchester County day care owner was arrested Monday on tax-card fraud charges.

Nancy Murray, owner of Miss Nancy’s Happy Hours Day Care, which is in the St. George area, collected $80,603 in state taxes from her employees from tax years 2006 to 2014 and then kept the money, according to the S.C. Department of Revenue.

She is charged with nine counts of tax fraud. Each charge carries a fine of up to $10,000 and five years in prison.

She was being held in the Dorchester County jail Monday.
