Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon was selected this week to serve on a National Use of Force Task Force.

Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon was selected to serve on a National Use of Force Task Force headed by the FBI and the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Task force members will work to provide guidance to local and state law enforcement agencies on how they respond to, investigate and share information about officer-involved deadly use of force incidents, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Members will also support the FBI’s ongoing efforts to collect information on incidents where officers use force.

The task force is also expected to align itself with President Barack Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing, the release said.
