A group of bikers chased down a driver they say hit two motorcyclists and fled Saturday, according to Mount Pleasant police.

Drequan Kentrell Lockwood, 22, of Cyrus Lane in Huger was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, driving under suspension, failure to appear for a traffic violation, unlawful carrying of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

Around 5:40 p.m., officers arrived at U.S. Highway 17 and Venning Road to find a group of bikers surrounding a Honda Civic with a flat tire and damage on the passenger’s side, according to an incident report. The bikers told police the driver had hit two motorcycles and fled, Inspector Chip Googe said.

Lockwood told officers he pulled over in a Lowe’s parking lot and took off again and all the bikers were chasing him, according to the report.

Lockwood told officers he didn’t have a driver’s license and had a gun that he was not supposed to have, according to the report. Officers said they found a 9 mm handgun under the driver’s seat that had been reported stolen in North Charleston.

Lockwood is being held in the Charleston County jail on $126,710 bail.
