Arrest made in North Charleston bank robbery

An arrest has been made after a North Charleston bank was robbed Wednesday morning.

Porche Washington, 26, of Romney Street was arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union on Rivers Avenue.

Around 10:40 a.m., a woman walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to police. She didn’t show a weapon and left with an undetermined amount of cash. Her actions were caught on surveillance camera.

Washington is charged with entering a financial institution with intent to steal. She was arrested at her residence without incident and booked into the Charleston County jail.
