Severe thunderstorms could disrupt the Lowcountry again later today, after another wave of broiling heat.
The National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for the Charleston area for late this afternoon and tonight. Severe thunderstorms could move into the area late this afternoon, especially between 5 and 10 p.m. Storms knocked out power for thousands across the Lowcountry Wednesday night.
This afternoon’s high in Charleston should be around 96, with a heat index around 107, according to the weather service.
Looking ahead through the weekend:
Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 98, heat index around 109, 20 percent chance of rain.
Saturday: Sunny, high near 100, 20 percent chance of rain.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 94.
