Snee Farm increases lead; Owens sets three records

Snee Farm, which is aiming to win its third straight title, increased its lead after the second day of the Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association’s 49th annual City Swim Meet at the Goose Creek Community Pool and Crowfield Golf and Country Club on Saturday.

The star of the day was Carson Owens from Shawdowmoss, who broke three individual meet records. Owen set marks in the boys 9-10 50-yard freestyle (27.29 seconds), 50-yard butterfly (30.75) and 100-yard individual medley (1 minute 11.42 seconds).

Avery Frece from Snee Farm also captured three individual titles in the 9-10 girls butterfly, backstroke and individual medley.

Three other individual meet records were set on Saturday. Norah Lightburn from Coosaw Creek in the 7-8 girls freestyle (15.87); Coosaw Creek’s Tyler Nelson in the 7-8 boys butterfly (16.30), and Snee Farm’s Sullivan Frece in the 7-8 boys freestyle (15.13).

The Longpoint 9-10 boys 200-yard free relay team (Thayer Tavormina, Luke Russell, Stephen Russell and Matthew Picard) also set a meet record at 2:05.50.

The meet, which includes swimmers from 19 neighborhood teams from around the Lowcountry, ends Sunday with the 13-14 and 15-18 age groups starting at 2:10 p.m.
