Dwayne Reine caught five bass that weighed 13.25 pounds, including the tournament’s big fish at 6.51 pounds, to win the Creekside Bassmasters’ July club tournament fished out of Cypress Gardens on the Cooper River. Todd Smith was second with five bass that weighed 12.40 pounds and Sid Fowler Jr. third with five fish that weighed 9.92 pounds.

The Haddrell’s Point Mount Pleasant staff will hold two “Fishing With the Kids” outings on Aug. 5, 7:30-9:30 a.m. or 9:30-11:30 a.m. They will take a group of 10 kids per outing to enjoy fishing, crabbing and cast netting. The class is limited to 10 and recommended ages are 3-15 years old. The cost is $30 per child and must be paid in advance. The 22nd annual Charleston Harbor Tarpon Release Tournament will be fished Aug. 13. The entry fee is $45. Registration forms are available at Haddrell’s Point Tackle, Atlantic Tackle or Toler’s Cove Marina. Fishing is limited to Charleston County waters with fishing from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Final registration will be held from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 11 at 1648 Home Farm Road in Mount Pleasant. The 23rd annual Fishing for Miracles King Mackerel Tournament will be held Aug. 18-20 out of Ripley Light Yacht Club with anglers not only competing for a $25,000 first prize for the heaviest king mackerel but also for the first time an inshore division for trout, sheepshead and flounder.
