CLEMSON — Clemson’s 12-game non-conference men’s basketball schedule for the 2016-17 season was announced Wednesday.
The Tigers will unveil Littlejohn Coliseum, fresh off a $63.5 million renovation, on Nov. 11 against Georgia. Following a three-game set in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan, Puerto Rico – which begins Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. vs. Davidson – the Tigers then enjoy a five-game homestand spanning Nov. 25 (the day in between Thanksgiving and the annual South Carolina-Clemson football game) to Dec. 14.
Clemson will play Alabama in Birmingham on Dec. 18. The Tigers’ only road game in an opponent’s home gym is Dec. 21 against South Carolina at Colonial Life Arena.
The Tigers’ non-conference slate concludes Dec. 28 at Littlejohn Coliseum against UNC-Wilmington, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association conference champion. The Seahawks are the only 2016 NCAA Tournament team officially on Clemson’s schedule, though the Tigers could face others in Puerto Rico.
Clemson was just 7-5 last season in non-conference play. Head coach Brad Brownell is 57-30 in six years of non-conference action, a lower winning percentage than each of his five predecessors dating to Bill Foster, who began coaching Clemson in 1976.
