As I look at the morning newspaper, my heart and soul are saddened by the headlines: more killing, more hate. Will this ever stop? What can I do?

First of all, I need to get on my knees and pray. Won’t you join me? Until we put God in our hearts and back in our schools, our chances for reconciliation are slim.

Parents, be involved in your children’s lives, check out their friends and where they are hanging out. Teach them about God, about loving one another and about tolerance.

Set a good example. We are all different: accept these differences without violence. Learn to walk away when things don’t go your way.

We can live in harmony with one another, but it is going to take time, and time is running out. Too many lives are being lost. We have to change.

Have hope, and pray for peace.
