The recent reports of drug arrests in and around the College of Charleston are frightening. It is our hope that the college will do everything in its power to protect the students there from predatory drug dealers.

It was of particular concern that there were reports of fraternities participating and requiring pledges to be drug runners, and that “rape drugs” were widely distributed.

Fraternities that violate laws should be banned immediately from the campus. We urge the president and board of the college to take immediate action to protect students before irreparable damage is done to the reputation of the school.
