The July 5 Associated Press article about the Bangladesh attack lacks any description of the treatment of the hostages in the restaurant in the capital Dhaka. The first news article I read about this attack was very explicit as follows:
Each hostage was asked to repeat a verse or something from the Muslim holy book, the Koran. Those who could do so were spared, those who could not were tortured and executed.
This important news item was omitted in the “news” article: “Possible ISIS-related attack?”
Being kind to sensitive groups is nice, but not to the extent of changing important aspects of the news.
