I go to work between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. weekdays and was not looking forward to the lane closure for bicycles.
However, I was very pleased that I had only two delays the whole time — the very first day as drivers figured out how and when to merge, and the day that police closed a lane due to a broken-down car. I had no delays or problems otherwise.
I firmly support the plan for a bike and pedestrian lane over the Ashley River bridge. And yes, I do see people walking over the bridge, and I do see cyclists weekly on the bridge.
The problem is that cyclists/walkers have a hard time getting to that access lane from Savannah Highway. Is there a way to make that safer?
