The Commodore 504 Cocktail
The Commodore 504 is a seasonal cocktail at The Commodore, a local bar and music venue in Charleston.
Taylor Grant, partner in this revitalization of the former Touch of Class jazz club space into The Commodore, placed a seasonal cocktail on the menu to acknowledge the changing thirst for cocktails as the weather warms up or cools down.
The Commodore 504 takes its name from the club’s address number.
504 Meeting St.
The summer Commodore 504 is currently made with Bombay Sapphire Gin muddled with mint, basil and orange. Elderflower liqueur sweetens the mix and balances the herbal juniper notes of the gin with the flower essence of the liqueur.
The addition of ginger beer brings effervescence to the cocktail and the ginger complements the grains of paradise and coriander seeds that spice and warm the Bombay Sapphire Gin. The drink is shaken, finished with soda and served in a martini glass rimmed with an orange peel.
