Charlestonian Bill Murray is a notoriously big music fan and a master of weird run-ins. He’s regularly spotted at shows of all sorts at venues in the Lowcountry and beyond, so it’s no surprise that he turned up recently at an Adele concert.

But here’s the classically strange Bill Murray twist: He ran into Donald Trump.

Murray recently recounted the tale to Esquire Magazine, in a car-ride-from-the-airport interview with Editors David Granger and Scott Raab.

The actor said that he wound up at the concert after being turned on to the British singer by three of his sons.

“I became a fan when I was driving my sons to school. I had Adele on, and I look in the rearview mirror and all three of my sons are in the back singing. And I’m thinking, What the hell touched these guys? So I started singing it myself after I dropped them off,” Murray told Esquire.

“Anyway, there Trump is at the Adele concert, rolling in the deep with the guys muscling him down the hall,” Murray told the magazine. “And I go, ‘Hey, how ya doin’?’ He says, ‘When this is all over, we’re gonna get together and we’re gonna play some golf. When this is all over.’”
