Blog: Tiger Tracks
CLEMSON - So the Tigers made up ground in the Atlantic race this weekend .... and didn't even step on the field.
One could see four ACC losses still getting a team from the Atlantic into the championship game, a made-for-TV event that ignores the ideals of meritocracy.
Still, Dabo Swinney and his staff will take it as it is keeping his Tigers focused with something to play for. And you don't hear the Twins or Tigers complaining they are in the AL Central.
It's keeping Clemson safety DeAndre McDaniel interested as he was back home in Tallahassee this weekend. McDaniel admitted he was rooting against the Seminoles, who fell to 0-3 in the ACC. You have to wonder if FSU, possibly the most talented team in the division, can get itself turned around with all the internal turmoil.
NC State was thought to be a darkhorse, and this last weekend was an excellent chance for the Wolfies (0-2 ACC) to make a move but they lost to Duke - Duke!!! - and made Thad Lewis look like a combination of Tom Brady and the Incredible Hulk.
In summary, a Tigers' win against Wake Saturday - could vault Clemson into a tie atop the Atlantic. And while that is hardly an accomplishment, but it is keeping the Tigers with something to play for - which I think is really important in avoiding a death spiral.
(BTW, Sunday Quarterback and Captionating will return next week to their normal time slots)
