Spurrier punks Gamecocks

COLA -- Steve Spurrier's practice pranks won't be confused with Pete Carroll's anytime soon, but the Ball Coach got the Gamecocks pretty good Wednesday afternoon.

During sprints, Spencer Lanning goes down in a heap. He starts screaming, writhing around in pain.

See, this is depth chart comedy. Everyone on the field knows Lanning, as the only real option kicking field goals and punting, is essentially indispensible.

Seeing Lanning in pain, the Gamecocks go into panic mode. Coaches included.

Defensive head coach Ellis Johnson starts pacing around, ranting about how absurd it is to get the kicker hurt in a Wednesday practice. Special teams coach Shane Beamer's face apparently goes ghost white.

Things reach a critical point.

Spurrier is leaning over Lanning, "tending to him." Eventually he had enough.

With the practice fields silent, he leans back and cackles. "Ahh, we got you!" Spurrier screams.

Yup, he got 'em. Score one of the Ball Coach, with an assist from Lanning. Maybe he's got a future in the performing arts if the kicking thing doesn't work out.

Levity's necessary during the grueling college football season. Spurrier seemed to enjoy retelling the story afterward.

Oh yeah - that's hysterical, Coach Squirmier...

Your coaching is much more funny than your "Punk'd" attempt.

Such a hater!

He tried to keep it light at practice.

Oh Travis - not a hater - just a realist *LOL*

When do you think he'll stop "keeping it light" during games? ;-)

Spurrier might not have the coaching ability or comedic timimg of someone as intelligent as tallblonde, but I bet he knows when to use funnier as opposed to more funny...

ddelving31 - Actually, either is correct. However your spelling of "timimg" is incorrect. It should be timing.

Tallblonde - 1
ddelving31 - 0

ddelving31 - Don't feel badly - Coach Squirmier probably doesn't know how to spell "timing" correctly either - timing is just another thing he evidently doesn't pay much attention to.

Busted on a typo...you are tough!

Let's see here...

ending your sentence with a preposition - that's 1

being so upset that you posted twice in a three minute span - that's not one, but does make me laugh...let's go with .5

ddelving31 - 1* (typos deserve an asterisk)
dumbblonde - 1.5

This is fun, but I have to know. Do you really think "much more funny" works better in that sentence than funnier? Also, did I say it was incorrect? Incorrect...no, awkward...?

Don't answer those questions. I just realized what a loser I look like for partaking in this conversation. I should be paying attention to gameday.

Have a nice life!

What is funny to see is someone so insecure with a little sports discussion - they can't engage in a little banter without resorting to name-calling (dumbblonde).

Enjoy your game and try to put a little humor in your life.

PS - I'm SURE that was a typo *LOL*

Do you really think I've gone through life thinking every word that ends in "ing" actually ends in "img"? Delusional much? I'm guessing (or is it guessimg?) my keyboard isn't the only one that has n next to m, but maybe I'm wrong...

I bet coach Squirmier finds your "name-calling" (pretty sure that isn't a hyphenated word) comment ironic. *LOL*

ddelving31 - 1*
squirmyblonde - 2.5

Where in your posts were you discussing sports?

When did my blog turn into this childish standoff? Either way, you've provided the most comments to ever grace this page.
