Armanti almost cut his toe off
App State coach Jerry Moore talked about All-American quarterback Armanti Edwards on Tuesday, revealing that Armanti nearly cut off his small toe in his now infamous lawn-mowing accident.
Moore: "His foot is not completely healed. There were 35 stitches in that thing, and he darn near cut his small toe off. It was a pretty critical cut. You can imagine the tenderness of it. Say you stepped on a nail and multiply that 100 times, that's a pretty serious accident."
"Armanti practiced for the first time in pads on Monday. I'd say he's doubtful (for Saturday's game with East Carolina), just with conditioning and timing and things like that. His foot is obviously getting better, but like anybody else we're not going to put him out there when he's 2/3 ready to play.
"I doubt seriously if he will play. It all just depends on how much skin that thing is laying over. That's what makes it stronger each day."
on Armanti's practice Monday
"He did all right under the circumstances. It was really his first time in pads and he did all right. We'll decide on Wednesday, but there is not much likelihood in him playing.

"If you had to look at the bright side, at least Armanti's accident happend before camp and these other guys have gotten all the reps. So it's not like we're going out there with guys who haven't had very many reps."
Is Armanti frustrated?
"He's that, for sure. I told him, he's had a terrific career, done a lot of things and now he's been dealt a tough hand. How you handle that adversity, that will be the bottom line for the rest of your life, anyway, as a man. And he's done a great job, just like he's done everything else, with a lot of class. Everybody in Boone wants to mow his yard now. He'll never have to mow another yard."
