New Ben Sawyer Bridge Being Installed
The Ben Sawyer Bridge swing span was eased off its foundation on Monday in preparation for installation of a new span as early as Wednesday, depending on the weather. Crews are also replacing the approach spans to the bridge, which first connected Mount Pleasant and Sullivan's Island in 1945.

The S.C. Aquarium doubled the number of sharks in its Great Ocean Tank on Monday morning. Four young sandbar sharks and one young black tip started the work day in a holding tank inside the sea turtle hospital but, by 10 a.m., had begun inspecting their new digs and 700 roommates.

Charleston County Sheriff's Deputies surrounded a James Island neighborhood Friday morning in search of 21-year-old Brandon Simmons, who is accused of shooting Deputy Jeffrey DeGrow Thursday morning. Deputies say they found Simmons hiding in a rusted Mercedes on Riverland Drive.
