Trash samples from around Charleston County are being sorted as part of the Charleston County Waste Composition Survey. The samples consist of 250 pounds of trash taken from throughout the county, that will be sorted into 30 categories so that the county can identify what is being discarded by county residents and how much can be recycled.

These videos were taken inside the Charleston Naval Consolidated Brig's Special Housing Unit, a wing set aside to handle terrorism detainees. They were provided to The Post and Courier by Ali Saleh al-Marri's defense lawyer, Andy Savage, who obtained them from the Defense Department as part of al-Marri's criminal case. They were recently declassified because of that case. Several show al-Marri inside his cell. Others show him getting an eye exam and talking with medical officials and guards later in his six-year detention in the brig.
