Academic Programs and Competitions

PACT Prep
PACT Prep is designed to:
  • Provide hands-on classroom activities and lessons that provide practical application of South Carolina's educational standards for elementary and middle school students.
  • Give teachers all necessary tools, materials and preparation to raise PACT scores and promote literacy within the classroom.
  • Available year-round through a sponsored one hour informational training session.
  • Schedule a site-based training session for your school by calling Robie Scott at 843-937-5766 or email at rscott@postandcourier.com
Pact Prep is available for instruction in the following content areas:
  • Elementary reading, language arts, math, science and social studies
  • Middle School reading, language arts and social studies

African American Heroes

African American Heros is designed to:

Runs: throughout the month of February
Call for entries will publish December through January.


Designed for instruction in all classes and grades.

Student Challenge of Math and Science

Student Challenge is designed to:
Promote hands-on math and science with standards-based questions created by Lowcountry college professors, and NOAA.
Its competition style format is intended to create a team atmosphere and make learning fun.


Runs: Mondays beginning January 28, 2008 for 12 weeks

Designed for instruction in the following areas or classes:
Middle School math and science or related classes

Appropriate for grades:
Grades 6-8
Other grades may participate, but are not eligible for prizes or Math and Science Bowl participation.

Career Center

Career Center is designed in cooperation with the South Carolina Employment Security Comission and Trident Technical College to:
Promote School to Work, workforce development and career investigation.

Runs: Tuesdays from September 2007 April 1, 2008

Designed for instruction in the following areas or classes:
Career and Technology Education
Workforce Development
Vocational Education
Social Studies classes
Family and Consumer Sciences, Language Arts

Appropriate for grades:
Grade 5 through adult education

Trident Technical College
