African American Heroes

• Familiarize students with important African Americans in their community and the world that have had or have an impact on their lives.
• Celebrate Black History Month.
• Provide an opportunity for students to research an individual, write a biography as a team and have their work published in The Post and Courier.

Student Challenge of Math and Science

Student Challenge is designed to:
Promote hands-on math and science with standards-based questions created by Lowcountry college professors, and NOAA.
Its competition style format is intended to create a team atmosphere and make learning fun.

Runs: Mondays beginning January 28, 2008 for 12 weeks

Designed for instruction in the following areas or classes:
Middle School math and science or related classes

Appropriate for grades:
Grades 6-8
Other grades may participate, but are not eligible for prizes or Math and Science Bowl participation.
