The Corporate Perspective
Why should you or your business sponsor The Post and Courier Media in Education program? It's simple. It works and we can prove it. And we do every year.
We believe that assessing our programs and measuring those results against our community and educational needs are paramount to a successful educational program. Therefore, we survey Lowcountry MIE teachers annually to ensure that MIE is indeed working in their classrooms.
We also collaborate with national institutions to conduct analytical research that measures test scores of students who use MIE in their classrooms as opposed to those who do not. The most current research entitled "NAA Measuring Success Report 2003" unveiled the following statistics:
- In schools with few low-income, minority students, the students that used MIE scored from 3% 10% higher on standardized tests than students who didn't use MIE.
- In schools with a high level of low-income, minority students, the students that used MIE scored from 4% to 13% higher on standardized tests than students who didn't use MIE.
- The greatest gains were made by middle school students whose teachers used the newspaper at least once a week for 36 weeks for instruction. They scored 29% higher than students who didn't use MIE.
We work with our sponsors to design and create programs that are beneficial to our students and our community while reaching the missions and goals of our many corporate partners.

Subscriber Donations
If you ever call The Post and Courier to suspend your newspaper delivery while you're on vacation, you will be asked if you would like to donate your vacation credit to put newspapers in our local schools. If you respond "yes," your newspaper credit for the days you're away will go directly to Lowcountry classrooms, so they can use the MIE program. Every penny you donate puts newspapers into our Lowcountry classrooms. The Post and Courier bears all administrative costs and additionally provides instructional materials and training to teachers at no charge.

Private and Individual Contributions
Many people choose to donate to The Post and Courier MIE Program in memory of a loved one while others wish to keep their donations anonymous. We are highly respectful of individual donations and maintain strict guidelines to meet the requests of our contributors.
Some individual donors prefer to maintain close ties with the teacher(s) and classroom(s) they sponsor. We will pair individual donors and participating classrooms together upon request.
