Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've been a registered user for years. Why do I need to register again?
A: The Post and Courier has begun to implement a new system to manage comments with expanded Social Networking capabilities. We have switched to a new service provider who can create a much richer experience for our users, and as such users will need to register again. The good news is, as new social networking features are added, your username and password will give you access to all of them sitewide.
Q: Do I have to subscribe?
A: No. This service is absolutely free to anyone with an internet connection and a valid email address.
Q: What is so special about this new platform?
A: Occasionally, you will see a little logo and blurb that say,"Powered by Pluck." The addition of Pluck's social networking tools to our website allow you, the end user, to interact with other users and site staff in a much more real way. Commenting can now become a conversation. User profiles allow people to learn more about you than they ever could before. You may have already met some friends on the comment boards, but make it official by adding them as a friend in the Post and Courier Community. Share your photos in our Public Galleries, or upload your own albums through your profile page!
Q: What's next for social networking at postandcourier.com?
A: As we move forward with developing and implementing social networking into our site, we look forward to giving you the ability to share video, join a group, post to forums, and much more. As we move forward, we will keep you, our valued users, informed about what additions are available as they roll out.
Q: I just logged in. What now?
A: Just navigate the site as you normally would. While logged in, certain options will be made available to you that anonymous users will not see. (Which is why you should check to see if you are logged in if the link you were using yesterday has "disappeared.") You may log in on any story page.
Q: How do I know if I am logged in?
A: At the top of story pages you will see a space that says either: "You must be logged in to view this content. Please sign in or register." or the somewhat more friendly,"Hello, [YourName]! If you are not logged in, the previous message simply encourages you to do so.
Q: I have a question about my account. Who can I ask for help?
A: There are several staff members that can offer you assistance with any issue you may encounter on our site. If you are unable to login, contact the staff by clicking here, or by calling Alan Seim @ 937-5590.
Q: What if someone posts something that is vile, obscene, abusive, or otherwise in generally poor taste?
A: If you see something you think should be removed from the site, click the report abuse link provided. A staff member will review the item and make a determination if the object should be removed based on our standards. If you read our Terms of Use, and our Notice About Comments, you will see that we are not responsible for what a third party posts to our website, nor are we under any obligation to remove it. We will review all abuse reports, but cannot predict what might be removed as abusive and what would not. Those determinations will be made on a case by case basis.
