Woman who was feared abducted found safe

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Charleston County sheriff's investigators said they found a woman who was feared abducted on James Island this week and determined that she is fine.

Deputies and city police canvassed James Island on Wednesday after a witness said he saw three men on St. James Avenue in Riverland Terrace drag a woman into their car and drive off.

Acting on a tip, investigators located the woman in question Thursday evening in downtown Charleston, sheriff's Capt. Eric Watson said. She was unharmed and did not need medical attention, he said.

Deputies determined the incident was the result of a domestic dispute between the woman and her live-in boyfriend, Watson said. No charges are pending, he said.
