Book bound

To kick off National Cookie Month and National Book Month, Great American Cookies will give away free chocolate-chip cookies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Throughout October, customers can receive a free cookie of their choice by donating a new or gently used book at local stores during the company's "Reading is Sweet" book drive.

All books collected at each store will be donated to local libraries or charities.

Local stores are at Citadel and Northwoods malls and Tanger Outlet Center.

Full plate

Lunch cafe Stack's Coastal Kitchen, at the Bi-Lo Shopping Plaza in Mount Pleasant, has expanded to include Stack's Evening Eats. After six years of serving salads, soups and sandwiches, owners Patrick and Darcy Stack have converted the space next to the restaurant at 1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd., Suite 1107, into a dinner establishment.

Look for freshly prepared appetizers and entrees with a full bar. Lunch is still served seven days a week, but dinner will not be served on Sunday.
