Father won't be charged in child's hot-car death

Friday, August 12, 2011

COLUMBIA -- Prosecutors said they will not charge the father of a 9-month-old boy who died after he was left in a hot car in Columbia for several hours on Father's Day.

Police said Jayden Davis died after he was left in a car at an apartment complex. The National Weather Service said the high temperature that day was 98 degrees. Prosecutors said there was not enough evidence to charge the father or anyone else with the boy's death. The man's name was not released.
