PINEVILLE - S.C. Two adults were killed and three children were transported to the hospital when an Isuzu Rodeo SUV ran off S.C. Highway 45 and struck a power pole Sunday night, said Bill Salisbury, chief deputy coroner for Berkeley County.

The crash happened near J.K. Gourdin Elementary School about 7:30 p.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website and an official at the scene.

At 10:30 p.m., rescue workers were still on the scene trying to remove the bodies of the adults from the vehicle. One was a female, Salisbury said, and the sex of the other had not been determined. The ages of the children also were unknown.
