Coroner identifies mo-ped driver

Berkeley County authorities have identified a mo-ped driver who died Thursday morning after he was struck from behind by a car.

Joseph MacBay Jr., 62, of Moncks Corner was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the wreck, Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury said.

Salisbury said MacBay was traveling north on U.S. Highway 52 when he was struck from behind. He was wearing a helmet and a reflective vest at the time, he said.

The case is under investigation by the state Highway Patrol.
