This townhome for rent is in Palmetto Pointe, an upscale neighborhood off Peas Island Road on the way to Folly Beach.
Sweeping sights of creeks and marsh are a Charleston area treat. Yet short of owning a waterside home, people don’t regularly get to see such visages.
Sure, they could rent a dwelling on a beach, river or stream. Many visitors do just that. But the leases are typically for no more than a week or two. What’s harder – but not impossible – to find are high-end properties on wetlands that are relatively affordable and come with longer-term rents such as a year.
Take 1625 Folly Creek Way. The James Island townhome on Folly Creek can be leased for a year at $1,800 a month, hardly a steal but within line for a three-bedroom, three-bath dwelling that’s just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
“This unit has everything, even a two-car garage underneath with an elevator,” says Jody Hancock, who is with the property management division of Southern Shores Real Estate Group west of the Ashley.
The up-and-down villa, known as a “twin” because it shares a wall with a neighboring townhome, has a host of perks including granite countertops, hardwood floors, and stainless steel refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher.
The upstairs master bedroom has a private porch that overlooks the creek, Hancock says.
Other interior features are air conditioning and central heat, a family room with a fireplace and walk-in closets. An $1,800 deposit is required.
The townhouse is located in the Palmetto Pointe neighborhood. Community attractions include a clubhouse, fitness center and swimming pool.

To get to 1625 Folly Creek Way, head south on Folly Road. Turn left on Peas Island Road, which is shortly before reaching the bridge to Folly Beach. The road connects to Palmetto Pointe, and Folly Creek Way is a loop in the neighborhood. The townhome is ahead.
