School bus collides with car
No one was seriously injured when a Charleston County school bus driving southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant collided with a car Tuesday, police said.
Mount Pleasant police were dispatched to the area of U.S. 17 and Oakland Plantation about 6:30 a.m. for a report of a school bus going the wrong way on the highway, police Capt. Stan Gragg said.
The bus eventually struck another vehicle near the old Laing Middle School, Gragg said. There were no children on the bus.
The driver, Gragg said, was a longtime employee who apparently had a medical condition that precipitated the erratic driving, Gragg said.
