PAC endorses Scott for Congress
The Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Republican state Rep. Tim Scott for South Carolina's 1st Congressional District.
The nine-way GOP primary is scheduled for June 8.
"Tim Scott has fought for the principles of individual liberty and limited government in South Carolina, and he is ready to do the same in Washington," Club President Chris Chocola said in a statement.
"He has fought the same battles in Columbia that need to be fought in Congress: for less spending, lower taxes and school choice. Tim Scott has spent his life living and defending the American dream, and we are proud to help him continue that work in the (U.S.) House of Representatives."
Scott, R-North Charleston, said he was honored by the endorsement. He served on Charleston County Council for 13 years before his election to the state House.
Ten Republicans and three Democrats are in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Henry Brown.
