Cougars teams ready for 2nd round of postseason
The College of Charleston men's and women's basketball teams both advanced to the second round of postseason play with victories on the road Wednesday.
The men's team (22-11) beat Eastern Kentucky, 82-79, in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational and will play Virginia Commonwealth (23-9) at 7 p.m. Monday in Richmond, Va.
Virginia Commonwealth advanced in the CBI with a 79-73 win at George Washington on Tuesday. Monday's game will be broadcast on HDNet.
The College of Charleston women's team pulled off its first postseason victory as an NCAA Division I member, beating Morehead State, 67-59, to advance in the Women's Basketball Invitational.
The Cougars (20-11) are the No. 2 seed in the WBI East Bracket and will play host on Sunday to No. 6 Bradley (17-13), a 69-59 winner over No. 3 Louisville. The game will be played at 2 p.m. at Carolina First Arena.
