Architecture

Rachel Burton has joined Ink Architecture as a consultant, focused on energy-efficient renovations and construction projects. She has degrees in environmental studies and architecture from the University of Waterloo. She has 30 years of experience in commercial, residential and institutional architecture.

John Reuter has joined SGA Architecture as project architect in the firm's Charleston office. He has a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Detroit. He has 40 years of industry experience.

Banking

Christopher S. Gompper has been named interim president of banking operations for The South Financial Group Inc.'s Carolina First subsidiary in North and South Carolina. He has more than 25 years of industry experience. He joined Carolina First in June 2005 as executive vice president of bank strategy and business segment performance. Previously, he managed treasury and card services sales activities for AmSouth Bank and held senior management positions with Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase. He has bachelor's degree in financial management from Florida Southern College.

Devon Brown has been promoted to vice president at Mount Pleasant-based Tidelands Bank. He is a certified public accountant and controller for the community bank.

Chiropractic

Dr. Adam Hall has joined Total Life Care Charleston as a chiropractor. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy and economics from Wofford College and a chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic.

Government

Beth Phillips has joined the Army Corps of Engineers' Charleston District as a financial management analyst. Previously, she was a systems accountant with the U.S. Department of State. She attended Limestone College.

Jewelry

Sean Jones and Channing Botts have joined Silverman Consultants, a specialist in exit strategies and promotions for jewelers. Jones is an inventory control specialist. Previously, he was a supervisor for seven years at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. , where he oversaw several departments, including electronics, housewares, and inventory. He has a gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America. Botts is administrative assistant. She has five years of retail industry experience. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications, with an emphasis on graphic design, from the University of South Carolina.

Law

Stafford J. "Mac" McQuillin III has joined Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd as a litigator in the firm's Charleston office. His practice focuses on general defense litigation, with a concentration in premises liability, personal injury, products liability and insurance coverage issues. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Previously, he clerked for Gov. Mark Sanford and state Sen. Chip Campsen.

Pharmacy

Elizabeth Mitchum has joined Delta Pharmacy & Medical Supply at its Daniel Island location as a pharmacy technician. She was previously with Omnicare and has more than five years of industry experience.

Resort

Kristyn Brinker, Tiffany Poupore and Spencer Hux have joined Kiawah Island Golf Resort in group sales.

Brinker will oversee the mid- Atlantic group sales market. She has more than 11 years of resort sales experience. Previously she was with the Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa. She has a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management of Grand Valley State University.

Poupore will oversee the greater Charleston area market and assist with the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast markets. She has more than 20 years of hospitality experience, and, previously, she was with Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms. She has a bachelor's degree in organizational communication from The University of Texas at Austin.

Hux is returning to the resort after a brief hiatus. Previously, he was sales manager, group sales manager and director of Carolina sales at Kiawah. His new role is director of Northeast sales. He has a bachelor's degree from Elon University.

Shutters

Windward Shutters LLC, a provider of exterior shutters and hurricane-protection products, has named Carol Manis as office manager.

Technology

Jennifer McQueeny, Virginia Rhodes and Caroline Long have joined Benefitfocus as account consultants in the software company's Daniel island office.

Vehicle repair

Larry Odom has joined Glasspro as an automotive glass technician. He has more than 30 years of auto glass experience.
