COLUMBIA -- Pitchers Jimmy Revan, Matt Price and Parker Bangs combined for 18 strikeouts to tie a school single-game record and Whit Merrifield had an RBI hit to set a school record for consecutive games with a hit, now at 26, as South Carolina (8-4) posted a 7-3 win over Valparaiso (3-11). It ws the seventh time USC has reached 18 strikeouts, and first since 2006. The previous consecutive hits record of 25 was set by Greg Keatley, all in 1976.
