Bauer to honor state's past lieutenant governors

Associated Press

COLUMBIA — South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer wants to honor all the people who have been second-in-command like him.

Bauer is holding a reception beginning late Tuesday morning to honor past lieutenant governors at his office at the Statehouse.

Bauer is wrapping up his second term as South Carolina’s second-in-line. He made an unsuccessful run for governor.

Bauer says he wants to honor previous lieutenant governors before he leaves the office.

A number of the state’s lieutenant governors have moved up to South Carolina’s highest office, but none since John C. West was elected governor in 1970.
