Today

BEER SALES IN BERKELEY: 6 p.m. in the administration building at 1003 Highway 52, Moncks Corner. Berkeley County is considering Sunday beer and wine sales county-wide. A proposal for a referendum to allow Sunday alcohol sales is on a council committee's agenda. Residents can buy beer and wine every day almost everywhere else in the Lowcountry.

Tuesday

MINE MEETING: 6 p.m. in the administration building's assembly room at 1003 Highway 52, Moncks Corner. A four-year fight over a plan to haul truckloads of dirt through a quiet rural neighborhood comes to a head this week. The Berkeley County Board of Zoning Appeals will decide whether Planning and Zoning Administrator Eric Greenway was right to deny a dirt mine in the Green Bay community in the Huger area of the Francis Marion National Forest.

Wednesday

WATER SAFETY CLASS: 4 p.m. Otranto Road Regional Library, 2261 Otranto Road, North Charleston. The American Red Cross will teach adults and children how to be safe in or around water. 572-4094.

STARLIGHT CINEMA SERIES: 9 p.m. Freshfields Village at the crossroads of Kiawah and Seabrook islands. Each Wednesday in June, Freshfields Village will host an open-air movie. This week's film is "Meet the Robinsons." 768-6491 or freshfieldsvillage.com.

Thursday

GOOGLE WORKSHOP: 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. College of Charleston's Beatty Center, 5 Liberty St. $25 includes lunch. Participants will learn how to grow their businesses by utilizing the Google AdWords program. adfedcharleston.com.

'BIG CHEF, LITTLE CHEF': 6:30-9:30 p.m. Lowndes Grove Plantation, 266 St. Margaret St. $45 in advance, $50 at door. Some of Charleston's top chefs will team up with members Louie's Kids, a nonprofit organization fighting to end childhood obesity. The chefs and children will compete to create the most delicious healthy dish. Live music by Hank Futch and beer and wine will be provided. 343-5746 or louieskids.org.

Friday

FRESHFIELDS VILLAGE CONCERT: 6-9 p.m. Freshfields Village Green at the crossroads of Kiawah and Seabrook islands. Local party band Plane Jane will perform. freshfieldsvillage.com.

SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD DINNER: 6:30 p.m. Fish Restaurant, 442 King St. $50 per person. The Sustainable Seafood Initiative will team up with chef Nico Romo, who will present a four-course seafood dinner featuring local ingredients. Wine pairings are included. Some proceeds will benefit the SSI. 722-3474.

Saturday

COMMUNITY FISHING CELEBRATION: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center, 5821 Hwy. 17 N., Awendaw. Free. Open to all ages. Bring your fishing gear and enjoy a day of fishing for bass and catfish.

PARK CIRCLE FILM SOCIETY: 7 and 9 p.m. Olde North Charleston Picture House, 4820 Jenkins Ave. In honor of the beginning of the World Cup, the society will show "Pelada." parkcirclefilms.org.
