Wednesday, July 28, 2010

A North Charleston man has been convicted of counterfeiting money.

Jessie Short, 35, was sentenced in Circuit Court Tuesday to 31 months in prison and three years supervised probation, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney William Nettles. Short and two other people were stopped by Charleston police officers who found $140 in counterfeit cash and evidence that a battery had been purchased with fake bills, the release said.

Investigators determined that Short manufactured a total $14,404 in counterfeit $20, $50 and $100 bills at his residence in North Charleston, the release said.
