1 dead in I-95 tractor-trailer wreck

Santee — Interstate 95’s southbound lanes are moving after a wreck that killed one person and injured two others who had been trapped in a tractor trailer cab.

The Highway Patrol says the wreck happened about 3:30 a.m. Friday on I-95 at the U.S. 176 crossover south of Santee. Investigators say the truck ran off an I-95 bridge down onto U.S. 176.

Orangeburg County Fire District Director Gene Ball says one person died and two others were hurt when the rig overturned. The names of the victims have not been released.

Ball says four crews worked to get the people out of the truck.

Southbound traffic was still moving slowly in the area just north of I-26 after workers removed the wreckage.
