Join Charleston Home + Design magazine for the semiannual Kitchens, Baths, + All That Jazz Party 7-10 p.m. Friday. Your $15 ticket includes complimentary King Fish Wine, pale ale from local favorite Palmetto Brewing Co., catered food and a cash bar. Tickets will be available at Gaillard Auditorium the night of the party.
Friday-Sunday, the Charleston Home + Design Show will feature local chefs and cookbook authors with rooms designed for them.
Three chefs will have rooms designed for them in the Celebrity/Designer Idea Room special exhibit. See what the design folks cooked up for Bob Waggoner, former executive chef of Charleston Grill and the host of the upcoming "Ucook With Chef Bob" television show, and the Lee Brothers.
Matt and Ted Lee, authors of "The Lee Brothers Southern Cookbook" and "Simple Fresh Southern" also will be honored with a room designed for them.
Tomasso turns a year
Tomasso at Turtle Point, an Italian restaurant in the Turtle Point clubhouse at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, will celebrate its first anniversary Feb. 8. In celebration, the restaurant is offering a 25 percent discount on all food and beverages and a complimentary dessert station that night. Live entertainment will be featured as well as chef's specials. Tomasso will be open 5:30-9:30 p.m. Call 266-4070.
Congrats to Brad
Social Restaurant + Wine Bar Proprietor, Brad Ball, has qualified to be apart of the regional Young Sommelier Competition held in Greenville, SC on February 20. Ball is the sole participate from Charleston to qualify for the event. The top four sommelier's at the regional competition will go on to compete at the national competition in May 2010.
Lucky 13

New dog in town
Jack Hurley, the Big Dog at Jack's Cosmic Dogs, says that expansion is on the way. This spring, the dogs that made Cosmic famous will be available on Folly Road.

Terrapin brews
Laura Alberts Tasteful Options on Daniel Island hosts Terrapin Brewery today for a dinner beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a four-course dinner paired with Terrapin beers. Haitian relief
--Cheng Sin Yung, owner of the Dragon Palace Restaurant on Daniel Island, will donate 100 percent of his restaurant's sales on Sunday to Haitian relief efforts. His staff is joining his efforts by donating the value of their compensation. The restaurant is at 162 Seven Farms Drive. Reservations are suggested at 388-8823. Sunday's hours will be 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
--The ownership behind McCrady's, The Buccaneer and Queen Anne's Revenge is matching the pledge of $5 of each Restaurant Week menu sold through Saturday to help the Red Cross and Haitian relief efforts.
The Neighborhood Dining Group extended the specially priced menus offered during Restaurant Week, Jan. 11-17. The menu at McCrady's is $35 and $30 at The Buccaneer and Queen Anne's Revenge.
"This matching pledge is a wonderful opportunity for people in our community to maximize their donation to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund," said managing partner David Howard.
Three for $30

New toques
--Laura Albert's Tasteful Options at 891 Island Park Drive on Daniel Island has hired Matthew Cole as sous chef. A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Cole has worked at the Woodlands Inn (Summerville), Roy's (Naples, Fla.) and The Mustard Seed (Mount Pleasant). --Mark Hutchings has been named the executive chef at Duvall Catering & Event Design. Hutchings has worked in Philadelphia and San Francisco with experience in hotels, restaurants and private clubs.
Catch the romance
Chef Nico Romo and the staff at Fish Restaurant have created a Valentine's Day menu for Feb. 12-14. Think French sensibilities with Asian flair. The menu is priced at $50 with paired wines for an additional $15. To reserve, call 722-3474. Fish is at 442 King St.
