2 cats are double joy for couple

Sunday, January 24, 2010

For most of my life I didn't have pets. A couple of years ago, my husband talked about getting some cats, dogs or fish. We discussed it several times but never came to a decision.

About a year and a half ago on a Saturday, my husband called me and said he had a surprise for me but I wouldn't get it until Monday.

Nancy Walden thought she wasn’t a ‘cat person’ until she got Tabitha and Little Bit.

Well, over the weekend, I forgot all about it. I came home from work on Monday, and was sitting in the recliner when my husband came in with a brown box labeled "animal." All I could think of was this better be a stuffed animal.

To my surprise, he took out a kitten and put her in my lap. I have a slight allergy to cat hair and started itching while thinking to myself this must be a joke. After a couple of days, I fell in love with Tabitha. She was the cutest kitty I'd ever seen.

After having her for almost a year, we decided she needed a buddy. So I, who never thought she'd like to have pets, went to the shelter and picked out a young male kitten.

It took them a couple of days to get used to each other but now they are best friends. They chase each other around the house like a herd of elephants, but at night, they cuddle together and Tabitha even licks Little Bit's head like she was his mother.

These two kitties have brought such joy and amusement to us that I can't imagine life without them. All my friends were surprised to find out that I was really a cat person after all!
