Two wounded in possible gang-related shooting
WALTERBORO — Residents nearby said today they are afraid to speak up about the latest in a long series of shootings — a Sunday night ambush that injured a man and a 12-year-old girl.
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office said Tayron Latrell 'Trell' Ford was visiting family Sunday night on Rivers Street when someone opened fire on him from woods across the street. Bullets cut down Ford outside the home, pierced the blue wood-framed walls and wounded the girl inside the house.
Ford suffered wounds to his groin, and the girl was struck in the hand and back of the head. Both were listed in stable condition at a Charleston hospital. No arrests in the shooting were reported.
A convoy of deputies and State law Enforcement Division agents dressed in black patrolled the neighborhood late Monday, rekindling images of the virtual lockdown by a swarm of patrols from law enforcement agencies in November following the killing of three people including a baby.
