Utility knives
About 204,000 Tool Bench utility knives, manufactured in China and imported by Greenbrier International Inc. of Chesapeake, Va., have been recalled because the blade can slide past the support while in use. The retailer has received one report of a laceration. The knives were sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Greenbacks and Deal$ stores around the country between April and October 2009. Gas grills
About 10,000 Master Forge five-burner gas grills, manufactured in China and imported by L G Sourcing Inc. of North Wilkesboro, N.C., have been recalled because the hose on the gas tank can melt and rupture when the grill is lit. This poses a risk of fires and burns. The company has no reports of injuries or property damage. The grills were sold at Lowe's stores around the country between September and November 2009. Play figures
About 2,100 military toy figures, manufactured in China and imported by Jide Trading Inc. of Commerce, Calif., have been recalled because the surface paints contain high levels of lead. Computers
About 22,000 select Acer Aspire-series notebook computers, manufactured in China by Acer America Corp. of San Jose, Calif., have been recalled because an internal microphone wire can cause a short circuit and overheat. This poses a risk of burns because the wire is under the palm rest. The company has received three reports of short-circuited computers, but no reports of injuries. The notebooks were sold by Amazon.com, ABS Computer Technologies, D&H Distributing, Fry's Electronics, Ingram Micro, Radio Shack, SED/American Express, Synnex Corporation, SYX Distribution, Tech Data Corp. and other stores around the country between June and October 2009. Tree steps
About 16,000 Ameristep Plastic Strap-On Tree Steps, made in China and manufactured by Primal Vantage Co. Inc., of Randolph, N.J., have been recalled because part of the step can break and users could fall. The company has received five complaints of steps breaking, including two reports of users being bruised and cut. Various outdoor and sporting goods retailers nationwide sold the product in 2009. Gas cans
About 7,500 No-Spill 5-gallon Gasoline Cans, made in the U.S. by No-Spill LLC of Lenexa, Kan., have been recalled because the containers can leak fuel at the collar of the can. This poses fire and burn hazards to consumers. No incidents have been reported.
