Glenna Ellen McKenzie focuses on capturing moments with photographs

By Vikki Matsis, Special to The Post and Courier
Thursday, February 18, 2010

Glenna Ellen McKenzie has traveled the world taking photographs. From photographing a wedding in France to taking travel pictures of the River Thames in London, McKenzie is passionate about being creative through the eye of her lens.

After studying photography in college and traveling around Europe, McKenzie said, "I began to look at photography as a way to shape memories and challenge the way people look at things. I continue to challenge myself with the use of light and perspective in my photography."

After working in graphic design for a few years, McKenzie decided that she couldn't live the rest of her life behind a desk. She now is a full-time wedding photographer, working with people all day while still being creative behind the scenes with her editing. McKenzie has been taking photographs for more than a decade; her art is evolving with the use of special lenses and light filters. In 2006, McKenzie started her own business, Red Room Studio.

McKenzie spoke about the love of her profession and said, "My creative process is really capturing the moment and focusing on the emotions and feelings that the scene provokes to create moving photographs. I trust my talent, my eye, in photography so I do not have to do a layout before, but I do like to be familiar with the subject and location, especially for weddings."
