Ex-Music Farm manager gets back in the game

To my knowledge, longtime Charleston music scene figure Jimbo Webb has never strapped on a guitar, thumped a bass or pounded the drums. No, Webb has always done something much more unique than simply play in a band--he's provided a stage for those who do.

Rock Lounge

Jimbo's Rock Lounge is the newest music venue in West Ashley that bears one of the oldest names in Charleston rock. As a longtime manager of the Music Farm and other local music venues, Webb has seen so many bands come and go in venues that were not his own that it makes sense he would now have a live music club he literally could call home.

Located in the space that used to house the legendary beach club J.B. Pivots on Savannah Highway, Jimbo's is spacious with a very, what else, "lounge" type feel, complete with couches and big chairs. This lounge is most definitely rock 'n' roll, and the decor reflects it. The free-standing bar is easily accessible, the staff attentive and the service was quick during a recent visit.

But perhaps most important, spots in Charleston for live music, particularly original music, are few and far between these days, and no doubt many local music fans rejoiced upon hearing that a name they were familiar with was back in the game with his own venue. May Jimbo's new lounge rock on.
