Be seduced by 6-inch heart-shaped cakes with cream cheese icing from local Cupcake stores. There's a chocolate version, too. They are $18, with a kiss: Cupcake is donating 10 percent of sales to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti. Order a day in advance at 853-8181 (433 King St., Charleston) or 856-7080 (Belle Hall in Mount Pleasant).

"Chocolate Raspberry Martini" and "Cupid's Hunt"

How do I love thee? Let me count the crepes: 25 decadent layers, oozing with vanilla or chocolate creme. The proverbial icing on the cake is a dark chocolate ganache with crumbles of handcrafted, small-batch pecan and peanut toffee. A Valentine's limited-edition from Charleston Crepe Co. and Holy City Chocolates, the 7-inch cake is $30 (6-8 slices), and the 10-inch size (10-12 slices) is $50. Order no later than Thursday; call 573-3458.

Mini Orange Chocolate Cheesecakes and Cookie pops

There's a whole lotta love packed into the goodies at Amelia Claire's Sweets and Treats, and for not much money. Two of Amy Bearden's Valentine creations are bite-size orange and chocolate cheesecakes (75 cents apiece) and Cookie Pops, made from a vintage sugar cookie recipe and dipped in white or dark chocolate ($2). Visit the bakery at 1804 Meadowlawn Drive, right off Wappoo Road, west of the Ashley. 225-2253 (225-CAKE).

Chocolate Heart

A beautiful box of chocolates that you can eat inside and out? How great is that? You can find these chocolate hearts at Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier and pick out the pieces to go within: hand-painted chocolates in amazing flavors and/or chocolate truffles. A four-piece box is $14.95, an 11-piece box is $39.95. Shops are at 357 N. Shelmore Blvd., Mount Pleasant, and 363 1/2 King St., downtown Charleston.

Cocktails for two

Maybe having some time and conversation together over a drink is just the love potion you need. Bartenders Morgan Cawley and Chris Reynolds at Peninsula Grill had you in mind when they dreamed up his-and-her cocktails. "Cupid's Hunt" is a bourbon-apple-ginger concoction, and "Chocolate Raspberry Martini" is made with white chocolate liqueur.

This weekend, enjoy them at the bar, with chef Robert Carter's special $55 prix-fixe menu, or even at home for the well-stocked host (recipes on Page 4D). Peninsula Grill is at 112 N. Market St.; 723-0700.
