Charleston Police recovered most of the $59,000 worth of designer sunglasses that were stolen from a Market Street shop in January. Three people were arrested after police received a tip.

After receiving a tip, Charleston police arrested three people Sunday in connection with the theft of about $59,000 worth of sunglasses taken last month from a Market Street shop.

Richard Tyler Prowell, 21, of Sewee Fort Road, Mount Pleasant, is charged with second-degree burglary, according to Charles Francis, police public information officer.

Ashley Lynn Basler, 23, of Spring Street and Samuel Jordan Palaio, 20, of Cannon Street each are charged with receiving stolen goods, Francis said.

They were being held in Charleston County jail pending a bond hearing, he said.

A shopkeeper told police he arrived at Sunglass Hut about 9:20 a.m. Jan. 30 and found 295 pairs of designer sunglasses were missing, according to a police report. About $1,000 in cash also was missing from the cash register, the report states.

Francis said officers recovered most of the sunglasses.
