The S.C. Chamber of Commerce board recently elected its executive committee. Its members are:

--Chairman Dr. Joseph Salley, president and chief executive officer of Spartanburg-based Milliken and Co.

--Chair-elect Dick Wilkerson, chairman and president of Michelin North America in Greenville

--Treasurer Dennis Wade, president and CEO of The Jackson Cos. in Myrtle Beach

--Past chairmain William Boyd, a shareholder in the law firm of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd PA

--General counsel John Creech, a shareholder in the Greenville office of Ogletree Deakins

Also elected to the committee were George Acker, southern region director of government and community relations for Duke Energy; Reed Bolton Byrum, chairman of Greenville's Byrum Innovation Group; Willis "Trip" Gregory III, senior vice president for human resources for Palmetto Health; Josef Kerscher, president of BMW Manufacturing Co. in Greer; Pamela Lackey, president of AT&T in South Carolina; David Pethick, president of the energy and environment group of URS Corp.; Jonathan Pinson, president of the Greenville-based Professional Staffing Solutions and part-owner of Travinia's Italian Kitchen and the Hilton Convention Center Hotel; Jim Reynolds, owner and president of Total Comfort and Comfort Services in Columbia; and Roger Schrum, vice president of investor relations and corporate affairs for Sonoco Products Co. in Hartsville.

The chamber also voted to approve the following local business leaders to its board of directors:

James Brogdon Jr., senior vice president and general counsel at Santee Cooper in Moncks Corner; John C.L. Darby, president and CEO of The Beach Co. of Charleston; Mark Dunlay, plant manger for Alcoa Inc. in Goose Creek; Roger Jones, president and chief executive of Companion Associates Inc. in Charleston; and M. William Youngblood, managing partner of McNair Law Firm PA in Charleston.

Mark M. Smith, vice president and co-owner of McAlister-Smith Funeral-Cremation, has been recertified as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.

Carroll Belser, Patrick Butler, Jim Gettys and Linda Meyer have been elected to the board of directors of the Edisto Island Historic Preservation Society.

Bill Jacques of American Inspection Service Inc. of Ravenel has been named as national vice president of the Des Plaines, Ill.-based American Society of Home Inspectors.

Buddy Bebergal and Kit Regnery of NAI Batten and Moore (now Carolina Commercial LLC) represented the seller, Shahid Family LP, in the $300,000 sale of 2.64 acres of commercial land at 3227 Maybank Highway, Johns Island, to Johnstown Investments LLC. The buyer was represented by Oliver Mathewes of Carolina One.

The certified public accounting firm of Steven E. Johnson CPA has relocated from downtown Charleston to the Villagewalk Office complex at 1041 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Suite 13B, in Mount Pleasant.

The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry's board of directors has named nine new members. They are: Jodi F. Barker of Sprout Maternity & Infant Boutique; Sallie Barnes; Hartley Cooper of Carolina One Real Estate; Colleen Lynne Corish of the Medical University of South Carolina; Nancy Hoy of Carolina One Real Estate; Lee Otis; William L. Sherrod of Anchor Commercial Real Estate; Kelly Skelly; and Samantha N. Workman of Wells Fargo.
